Pilates

I moved to Kelowna in 2019 to attend the University of British Columbia Okanagan, where I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have always been fascinated by the connection between the mind and body, and when I discovered Pilates, I instantly fell in love. Pilates has taught me how to connect to my body through breath and continues to deepen my awareness, control, and balance. It’s a practice that goes beyond the studio, influencing every aspect of life. Pilates will transform the way you move, feel, and connect with yourself. My passion continues to grow, and I’m dedicated to continually expanding and refining my practice.

I began my personal journey with Pilates in 2000, I am passionate advocate of Pilates benefits. I am a certified instructor in mat and reformer, and have also completed certification on the Cadillac, the Stability Chair, Therapeutic Pilates and Teaching Therapeutic Movement. I have great experience managing low back pain, and improving neurological function. I continue to seek opportunities to increase understanding and knowledge of both the body and Pilates practice. I consider Pilates practice a lifetime commitment to health and well- being and I am amazed at how much the Pilates approach to exercise has to offer, from rehabilitative work to cross-training and beyond, providing the opportunity for all individuals to enhance their health through improved mobility, strength and stability.

Sabina grew up in beautiful Kelowna and began her academic and athletic journey at the University of Calgary, where she played varsity field hockey (Go Dinos!). She later returned home to complete her Bachelor of Human Kinetics at UBC Okanagan, then headed to Edmonton to earn her Master’s in Physical Therapy.

Over the past decade, Sabina has worked with a wide range of clients, continually expanding her skills with advanced training in Pilates based rehabilitation, manual therapy, taping techniques, dry needling (IMS), and pelvic health.

When she’s not in the clinic, Sabina is in full parent-hustle mode—shuttling her kids to school and activities. She makes the most of Okanagan summers with her family, enjoying all the pearls the Okanagan has to offer.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing pain, or just looking to move better, come in and see how Sabina can help you reach your goals.

Tamara enjoys working with a variety of patients (including pediatrics) and strives to build a connection with clients that allows a collaborative approach to their care. She completed her Masters of Physical Therapy program at UBC and spent many years as a fitness instructor before entering the world of physiotherapy; you will likely still catch her performing the occasional hamstring-repeater or grapevine as she moves around the clinic.

Always a keen learner, she has pursued many post-graduate education topics, including AN-IMS (dry needling), vestibular rehabilitation (vertigo/dizziness/balance), pilates, manual therapy, and specialized exercise prescription. Notably, Tamara is currently the Okanagan’s only certified International Schroth 3-dimensional Scoliosis Therapy practitioner and is happy to be able to offer this gold standard treatment to her scoliosis and kyphosis patients.

I personally became a witness to the powerful health and healing benefits of Pilates after participating in my first class at which point I realized Pilates truly was “Medicine for my back”. In the past, I had experienced many years of chronic lower back pain and being an avid fitness advocate and instructor, my back condition prevented me from enjoying high impact workouts and limited my mobility and exercise options. Pilates brought me new hope, enabling me to reduce the lower back pain by rebalancing muscles, improving core strength, mobility, and helped me strengthen my body, pain-free. With each Pilates session I attended, I realized that for the first time in many years I was able to enjoy my lifestyle and passion! Pilates is not only for those of us recovering from injuries but for everyone! Through my personal experiences, I have found Pilates has enhanced my own physical and personal wellness, mental health, and can say with confidence that Pilates is for everyone.
